The Kawaii Tag

I’m going to do a tag post today. I’m going to be doing the kawaii tag. I have seen lots of YouTubers doing this tag and it looked like so much fun that I just had to give it a go myself.

So, let’s get started with the questions…

1. How did you start liking Kawaii?

When I was 16, I volunteered in a charity shop and there was a kawaii girl there would would always talk about anime and Japanese culture. That got me interested and my love spiralled from there.

2. What is the cutest thing you own?

This is such a hard question because I own so much cute stuff. I feel like I’m having to choose a favourite child… hmmm… the cutest thing that I own would probably be my tokidoki unicorno ‘Yuki’. I just love him and his little snowflake art on his body. Ahhhh, he’s so cuteeeee.

3. Who is your favorite Sanrio character?

I used to be obsessed with Hello Kitty but now my favourite would have to be cinnamoroll.

4. Do you wear Kawaii fashion?

I always try to dress cute but because I’m a plus size person, the kawaii fashion world doesn’t really cater to me very well. Any plus size, kawaii girls that are reading this, hit me up so we can chat about the best place to buy kawaii clothing.

5. Do you watch anime? What’s your favourite?

Yes, I do. I love anime. I love Death Note, Assassination Classroom and Gabrielle DropOut.

6. What is your cutest piece of clothing?

As I mentioned already, I don’t own that much kawaii clothing but my favourite item of clothing would have to be a bag that I own. Does a bag count? I think it does. My favourite bag is a cute little across body bag that I bought from Primark. It looks like a bucket of popcorn.

7. What do your friends and family think of your Kawaii obsession?

Well, a lot of my online friends like kawaii things too so they love it. My boyfriend doesn’t get it but he’s probably used to it now. My family think it’s slightly childish but that’s just because they don’t understand.

8. Who is your Kawaii role model?

I have so many kawaii role models but to name a few Alexa Poletti, Hello Batty, Julia Zelg and Noodlerella (all YouTubers so check them out)!

If you see this post then consider yourself tagged. I would love to see your responses to these questions.

Girrrrl I am 33 years old and I still watch anime several times a week with the husband. My mom and inlaws think it’s childish for sure but luckily my hubs is super into anime so I can be as kawaii as I want 😂 Best thing that happened this year was my 10 year old getting into Sword Art online to the point of reading the manga. Who cares what anybody says? Kawaii is adorable and the anime I watch is among the best television I’ve seen. Own your kawaii lifestyle.

I have such admiration for the girls who can pull off the kawaii look, I absolutely adore the style but I’ve never quite had the confidence to go for it myself! I really hope you’re able to find a clothing retailer who caters for your size, it’s such a shame that they don’t as diversity is so important! I’ll be checking out your YouTuber recommendations as I’ve only heard of Noodlerella from your list so need to expand!

Cinnamaroll is the CUTEST!! I actually got into my fave style (pinup/vintage) through looking for kawaii and Loli clothes to fit me, but sometimes I miss the full-on effect of real kawaii. I want to see your popcorn bag!!

My daughter loves anime, manga, and Kawaii! Actually, I think that is cute style and she’s so cute with her being a teenager.

My sister is majorly into Kawaii, and she’s super thin. For plus size girls like me, its difficult to work with Kawaii without making yourself look slightly weird, but I have seen people do it, and so should you!

I really enjoyed reading your answers to this tag 🙂 I need to do it myself! Cinnamon roll is such an adorable character! I adore Hello Kitty but he’s probably my second favourite! It’s definitely super tricky to dress Kawaii when you’re plus sized 🙁 I love Japanese lolita fashion and I’m not great with a sewing machine so I can’t make my own outfits! *cry cry* I wish companies would cater for kawaii lovers of all sizes! x
