Let’s Talk About Saying No

We are constantly told that we need to say yes to things. Say yes to trying new foods, say yes to socialising with people, say yes to traveling to new places and just say yes to everything.

But what about when we need to say no?


Suddenly, we feel like we have to justify why we are saying no. What people need to realise is that ‘No.’ is a complete sentence and you are under no obligation to explain yourself to anyone.

If something makes you feel uncomfortable or awkward then you have permission to say no. It’s always good to push the boat out and try new things but if you don’t want to then you don’t have to.

It’s okay to say no to going out for drinks with friends if you’d rather spend the night in.

It’s okay to say no if you don’t have the time to do something or if it will make you rushed.

It’s okay to say no so that you can put your own needs before someone else’s.

It’s okay to say no if you don’t feel moved by an activity, no matter how excited everyone else is.

It’s okay to say no.

    I love this! It’s so true, but it something that’s so easy to forget and really takes time to learn. I was talking to my best friend the other day and we both agreed this was something we didn’t really feel comfortable with until recently, and we’re both 26 now!
