How To Make Your Periods Less Awful

I highly doubt that anyone actually enjoys being on their period. They make you have cravings, make you moody and they make you feel bloated. With that in mind, I have some tips on how to make your period a little bit less awful.

Here we go;

1. Grab a hot water bottle.

Hot water bottles or heat pads are great for when you’re on your period. They can be huge lifesavers! If you just place a hot water bottle on your tummy then it helps relieve the cramps instantly. It’s also nice and toasty warm in general so it’s a win, win situation.

2. Track it.

You know how you’re just wallowing in self pitty because it’s your time of the month and you don’t want it to be. Well get over it and write the date down. After you have tracked a few periods, you might start noticing a pattern and then it will be less of a shock to you next time. You can also log details such as how heavy it was or how much cramp you had.

3. Get moving.

I know that it’s hard to find motivation to move around but seriously, stand up, do a crazy dance or go for a walk, just move your body. You will feel so much better afterwards!

4. Keep spare panties near by at all times.

You just never know when something bad might happen…

5. Have sex or masturbate.

This tip isn’t for everyone. Some people find it gross but other women think that it works really well. Apparently, having an orgasm can reduce cramping pain and also slow down the blood flow.

    Instead of a hot water botte I use a wonderul cherry pit pillow. You just put it in the microwave for two minutes to heat it up and then it’s pure heaven!

    Moving is also a great tip! My go to sport is yoga as certain poses can help you instantly.

    I didn’t find out about hot water bottles until I was about 16! I wish i had known sooner, they really are a huge help! I would also have to say don’t be afraid to take a painkiller if necessary, I avoided them for ages and in the end just felt worse for it. Great post and very helpful 😁 Bella x

    Heat definitely helps me a lot and even just taking a nice long bath to help soothe cramps, as well as to just relax your mind and body xx
