A Little Rant About Plus Size Lolita Fashion

So today I want to talk a little about something that has been bothering me for a while.

This is not everybody’s experience because obviously I can’t talk for everyone but I can talk for myself.

I’m going to talk a little bit about plus size lolita fashion. Basically, I have been wanting to get into Lolita fashion for a while now. But obviously, I’m not a small girl so finding dresses in my size was pretty much impossible.

There’s absolutely no way that plus size people can fit into clothes from places such as Angelic Pretty so the only choice left is to wear a replica. But obviously, that’s not what I want to be doing.

Honestly, it’s got me so down and deflated about Lolita fashion because bigger girls are just not completely welcomed in the community.

I used to be rather slim. I would love to be skinny again. Not so that I would look skinnier because I’m happy being a big girl but so that I can fit into Lolita fashion.

So, what do I do? Do I wear replicas or do I give up on my dreams of wearing Lolita?

Don’t give up!! I used to wear Lolita about 10 years ago and I was a lot bigger then but I managed to find brand items that fit me, BTSSB, Innocent World and Metamorphose were quite generous in their sizings, in fact my one and only JSK I kept from my Lolita days from BTSSB is waay to big on me now and it’s only partially shirred. Angelic Pretty is definitely one of the brands that’s on the smaller size and I still struggle with them now even though I’m over 50lbs lighter! But… Lolita now compared to back then is full of many different choices and sizes and there’s nothing wrong with wearing off-brand or replicas. I don’t actively follow the fashion anymore although my BFF is still part of it and runs her own Lolita community but definitely check out the indie brands and support them and also check out Closet Child for brand bargains because it’s my fave re-sell store ever and I will be visiting all their stores when I go to Tokyo next month I mean I got a Moi Meme Moitie top and 2 skirts for 600 yen there last time haha! One last thing I honesty think I suited Lolita better when I was bigger and personally I think it looks cuter on more curvy girls because the silhouettes are more flattering on them so don’t be discouraged, forget about what others think and wear whatever ever makes you happy because that’s the most important thing xoxo
