6 Simple Ways To Be And Stay Creative

Being a creative every day can get a little mundane. It’s important to shake things up a bit to stay sharp and full of fresh ideas. That’s why I created this list of ideas to help you stay creative.

1. Write.

Research has shown that writing by hand could make your smarter and improve cognitive development. That’s why when you’re not feeling the most creative, you should grab a pen and paper and get writing. You can write about absolutely anything as long as you’re writing something.

One way to write more is by doing ‘morning pages’. The idea of morning pages is that every morning when you wake up, you write 3 pages in a notebook about absolutely anything. It helps to keep you feeling creative and gets you going for the day.

2. Journal.

By writing a to-do list, you can see what you need to do in the day. This will help you stay focused on tasks keeping you feeling creative. You can also use creative ways to decorate your journal.

One type of journaling that I would recommend is bullet journaling. This is such a creative and fun type of journaling that it gets your creativity going and doesn’t feel like a chore to do.

3. Make lists.

Lists are one of my favourite things. You can make them about absolutely anything. For example, I’m currently writing a list about how to stay creative. You could create lists of all your projects to try or all the ideas that you have in your mind.

4. Break your routine.

Get reckless. Don’t wake up, have breakfast, brush you teeth, get dressed and go out. Do something different and crazy. By doing something different you will spark creativity which you can channel into your art or writing.

5. Take a walk.

Look at the scenery. Admire it and take it all in. Take inspiration from it. Whether you’re looking at the colours or the sounds, take those ideas and use them in your writing or art or both.

6. Add colour to your life.

Pain the walls a bright colour. Wear funky, colourful clothing. dye your hair a crazy colour. Just add colour to your life.

What are your tips for being and staying creative?

Lovey list. It can be hard to keep being creative every day. As an artist I must continually be creative and sometimes you hit the wall. These are very good things to keep in mind when you hit that wall.

Good suggestions. I agree it can be hard to be creative when you’ve hit a wall. I can sit at my laptop thinking I’m being productive, when I’m really only wasting time. I know that fresh ideas come to me when I step away to make tea or go for a walk.

Great list! I love making lists, I’ve always got some on the go whether it’s presents for people or a wish list or even a food shopping list! I just LOVE them. I’m really thinking of starting a bullet journal, do you have any tips?
