I have now been bullet journalling for half a year. Over that time, I’ve started to realise some thing which I wish I had known before starting out.
You can start whenever.
I researched bullet journaling and I decided that it’s what I wanted to do. So I then did more research into what notebook to buy. I then waited for my notebook to arrive. I then waited for a Monday so that I could start my journal on a fresh week. It all just got a bit silly! I wish I had just grabbed any notebook and pen and started.
You don’t need any special supplies.
I found myself buying highlighters, colouring pencils, fine liners, etc. I didn’t need them all. All I needed to start out with was a pen and a notebook.
It doesn’t have to look beautiful.
No matter how hard you try, it really won’t ever look as beautiful as you hoped. You can spend hours scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration but it still won’t ever look perfect. But that’s part of the fun!
It’s completely flexible.
Some times I’m feeling super productive so I wake up in the morning, write my to-do list in my bullet journal and get on with things. Other days when I’m feeling a little bit more lazy, I just leave the bullet journal for the day. This works great in the bullet journal because there’s no awkward gaps like there would be if you were to have a set diary.
It’s so much fun!
Deciding to start bullet journaling was one of the best things that I ever did. It helps me start organised, helps me remember things and it’s just so much fun!
What do you wish that you knew before you started bullet journaling? If you don’t already have a bullet journal, did this post make you want to start one?
