The Lazy Person’s Guide To Mindfulness

Sometimes practicing mindfulness can be a lot of work and it’s really not all that much fun for a lazy person, like me. That’s why I came up with lazy mindfulness. It’s just little ways that you can practice mindfulness throughout the day without having to put in too much effort.

Being lazy is not always a bad thing. It is a concept that goes back thousands of years to describe those who just want to live a little more stress free.

Tips for a Lazy Person

1. Focus on your breathing when sitting

When you’re just watching the television or scrolling through the internet, take a second to focus on your breathing.

2. Nourish yourself

Mindfully eat your lunch attending to the colors, taste, and smells of the food.

3. Hit the snooze button and relax

Maybe I shouldn’t be promoting sleeping in but hot that snooze button and spend the extra minutes just focusing on your breathing and how your body feels while lying in bed.

4. Notice your surroundings

While you’re rushing somewhere in the day, really look at all the things around you. Notice the green grass, the colourful flowers, the freshly painted road markings or the feel of the carpet under your toes. Just notice what’s going on around you.

What tips do you have for lazy people like me who want to practice mindfulness?

As soon as I saw ‘lazy person’ in the title, I knew this was for me! Haha. Mindfulness is something that I have always tried to keep in mind but lately it has been slipping and I find myself missing out on a lot during my day, just because my mind is elsewhere. I’m definitely going to try these things as they sound so simple but effective. Thank you for sharing these tips! xx

I love this little guide to lazy mindfulness, especially when you’re so busy and always on the go. I particularly like the breathing tip, since I tend to hold my breath in quite a lot.
